While walking around in Wat Chedi Hoy some more, I noticed a wide selection of sentient beings in captivity (in cages or in containers).

I knew that to free them, one had to give the person in charge there a certain sum of money. Actually I was already low in cash and net financial assets at the time (I didn't have much money to my name when I embarked on this trip to Thailand), but I gave what I felt was within my means to free some birds.

A white robed Thai guy there then wanted me to recite some words after him (some kind of chanting I would think, either in Thai or some other language, perhaps Pali). My taxi driver helped to recite for me for much of the chanting.

Then I went in front of a Guan Yin Bodhisatta statue to release the birds (video clip below):
